Closing a Case
A child support case may be closed when:
- An obligation ends and the paying parent has paid all current and past due child support
- A county child support office has been unable to create or enforce an order
- A paying parent or the person receiving payments cannot be found
- The person who signed up for child support services requests it
The local county support office may send a letter to the paying parent and the person receiving payments 60 days before closing the case. If new information about a case is ever received, it may be reopened.
